Natural Lapis Clover Stone

Lapis lazuli is a rock rather than a mineral, composed of a variety of minerals, the primary components of which include: lapis lazuli, calcite, pyrite, and small amounts of diopside and mica, among others. It is the combination of these various minerals that gives it its captivating appearance.

The formation of natural lapis lazuli under natural conditions is extremely rare and requires specific conditions, including magma intrusion, contact with Country Rock, hydrothermal Metasomatism, cooling, and crystallization, ultimately resulting in natural lapis lazuli. In simple terms, lapis lazuli is the product of hydrothermal Metasomatism between magma and carbonate rocks.

Additionally, lapis lazuli with a deep blue, uniform color, but with very fine white calcite veins and small, evenly distributed pyrite inclusions, is considered top-quality, or AAA grade. Natural lapis lazuli is primarily found in regions such as Afghanistan, Russia, and Chile.

During the medieval period to the Renaissance, high-quality lapis lazuli was ground into powder and used as pigment for religious paintings. In ancient Egypt and Mesopotamian civilizations, it was a gemstone more precious than gold, often used to create scarab decorations and jewelry.
