What Is Moissanite?
Moissanite is actually an extraterrestrial gemstone composed of silicon carbide. It was discovered by scientists in meteorite craters and is quite rare in nature, even rarer than diamonds. Since the person who discovered this substance was French chemist Henri Mossan, the gemstone was named Moissanite, also known as Moissanite Diamond or Magic Star Diamond.
Currently, all moissanite on the market is synthetic. Initially, people were primarily drawn to its properties such as corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, high strength, excellent thermal conductivity, and impact resistance, making it suitable for use as an abrasive and in chemical industries. Later, it was discovered that when cut into diamond shapes, it closely resembles natural diamonds in appearance, making it a more authentic alternative to previous diamond imitations. As a result, it has gained widespread popularity as an affordable alternative to diamonds.
