Synthetic Blue Glass Clover Stone

Glass is typically made from silicon dioxide, commonly known as sand. Silicon dioxide has a very high melting point, typically requiring a high temperature of around 1700 degrees Celsius.

To better melt silicon dioxide, we need to add a flux to lower the temperature required for melting. The most common flux is sodium carbonate.

At the same time, calcium oxide is added to enhance the chemical durability and strength of the glass.

To color the glass, different additives are added. For example, if we need blue glass, we can add cobalt oxide or copper oxide, resulting in glass with a distinct blue.

Once all the raw materials are prepared and loaded into the furnace, the glass melts into a syrup-like fluid under continuous heating. The molten glass flows slowly out of the furnace through a regulating gate and floats on a narrow pool filled with molten tin. Since the density of glass is lower than that of tin, it floats on the surface of the tin and spreads out naturally, forming a glass strip with completely parallel and smooth upper and lower surfaces. After cooling naturally in the air, the glass hardens and maintains a relatively flat shape.

Even after the glass has solidified, thermal stress remains within it, so an additional process called annealing is required. This involves reheating and slowly cooling the glass to prevent it from cracking on its own after cooling.

Once all processes are completed, the material can be cut and processed into other glass products, such as jewelry decorations, and so on.
